RxConnect
Many prescription drug manufacturers offer help to people who cannot pay for their medications. Some programs are only for people with low income; in which case, prescriptions may be provided at no cost. Other programs offer discounts on prescriptions for qualified individuals.
To learn more, call Minnesota RxConnect at 1-800-333-2433. An RxConnect specialist will ask you about the medicine you take and your income. Based on that information, they will let you know for which programs you might be eligible. They will even help you complete the paperwork and prepare the information for mailing. Help is available on a one-to-one basis, over the phone or in person.
The 2003 Legislature appropriated funding to set up the RxConnect phone service, which is administered by the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Senior LinkAge Line®. It is available to all Minnesotans in need of help with their prescription drug costs regardless of age or income. RxConnect does not provide free medications; it is a service to help people through the application process for programs that may help defer the costs of prescription medications.
You can visit the RxConnect website at www.minnesotarxconnect.com. This website was created to provide Minnesotans with information on issues related to prescriptive medicine, safety and cost-saving, and programs to help low-income Minnesotans pay for prescription medications. This site also provides Minnesotans with information about accessing lower-cost prescription medicine from Canada.

Connection to Care provides medications free of charge to patients who meet program eligibility criteria. For more information or to fill out an application, you can call 1-800-707-8990 or go to: http://www.pfizer.com/subsites/philanthropy/access/connection.care.default.html to print out an application form.
To be eligible for Connection to Care:

- Patients must not have any prescription drug coverage - this includes patients who have reached their caps under other plans, those in "generics only" plans, or any other insurance plans that offer coverage.
To apply, patients must submit a completed application, a copy of their prior year's tax return with supporting documentation, and an original signed prescription from their physician. An approval letter will be sent to both the patient and physician once the application has been reviewed (approximately 3-4 weeks).
In most cases, a 90-day supply of medication will be provided within 3-4 weeks of application approval. All medications will be sent to the prescribing physician. The physician's office should call the patient to pick up the medication.
To obtain additional prescriptions, the patient must send another completed application, along with a new prescription signed by his or her physician. It is suggested that patients send new applications when a 45-day supply of medication remains to allow for processing time. This will ensure a continuous regimen of medicine. Patients are only required to submit financial documentation once a year.
