For the average of $9,000 spent on 18 months of preschool, society will get back at least $90,000 in benefits per child in terms of increased earnings, tax revenue, less criminal behavior, reduced mental health costs and other measures, according to an exhaustive study by Arthur Reynolds at the U of MN that tracked 900 low-income kids into adulthood.
