The Bridge to Benefits website, www.bridgetobenefits.org, provides an online screening tool that helps families determine their potential eligibility for financial assistance programs for child care, food, energy/heat, health care and tax credits.

It appears that those who care about children and their health care coverage can finally exhale. The President signed the health care reform bill last Tuesday and even though a lot of compromises were made along the way, children are certain to be better off under the new law, and that is reason to celebrate.

The Governor’s proposal to double prison sentences for the state’s most violent sex offenders will add $12 million per year to a budget that has already exploded. Coincidentally, $12 million is also the amount the Governor proposed cutting from child care assistance this year.
