Policy Priorities |
goalsInvestments in children come back to us many-fold. By ensuring children receive a great start in life, they are more likely to grow up healthy and become contributing adults. Our nation has the ability to: End child poverty; Guarantee every child and pregnant woman comprehensive health coverage and services; Protect every child from abuse and neglect and connect them to caring permanent families; Provide high quality early childhood care and development programs for all children; Ensure every child can read at grade level by fourth grade and guarantee quality education through high school graduation; and Stop the criminalization of children at increasingly younger ages and invest in prevention and early intervention.

More than eight million children in America and 75,000 children in Minnesota are uninsured. Our vision is to guarantee every child and pregnant woman affordable, comprehensive health and mental health coverage and services.
CDF's Cradle to Prison Pipeline Campaign is a national call to action to stop the funneling of tens of thousands of youth, predominantly minorities down life paths that lead to arrest, conviction and incarceration. Our vision is to reduce detention and incarceration by increasing preventive supports and services children need.
Through our Beat the Odds® program, CDF Freedom Schools® program, and Youth Advocacy Leadership Training (YALT®) program, our vision is to create a successor generation of servant-leaders who will drive community and national transformations and inspire and make long-term improvements for all children.
