A report by CDF-Minnesota and JOBS NOW Coalition details how important the minimum wage is to the well-being of millions of American children and their families. In Minnesota, an effort this year to raise the minimum wage was thwarted when Governor Pawlenty vetoed a minimum wage increase that passed both the state House and Senate.

KIDS COUNT - 2008 Data Book

The 2008 Data Book, titled "From Getting By to Getting Ahead," found that 152,000 Minnesota children - or 12 percent - lived in poverty in 2006. That number is a 33 percent increase since 2000.
